Saturday, September 27th, 2008

the program is primarily intended to provide advanced study for graduates from overseas universities who wish to obtain advanced training in the areas of biochemistry and molecular biology. The program is adapted to suit the needs and objectives of each student. The expectation is that students who achieve an appropriate standard in the program are then admitted to a higher degree research program, provided suitable supervision and facilities are available.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the program requires the prior completion of a Bachelor degree in a relevant area, as determined by the Head of school. Student with Honours degrees or higher and who have undertaken a significant research project would normally be directed to a MSc program. Applicants must also meet the English requirement for entry into this program.

Program Structure

This program is tailored according to the background and requirements of individual students. It includes advanced formal training, with lectures in general and medical biochemistry and the use of modern biochemical techniques (e.g. scintillation counting, mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography, molecular biology, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, animal and plant cell culture and plant biotechnology).
